WHAT: Join us for comic and zine making fun hosted by Nicholas Friesen and presented by Fantasy Club Books! 

About Nicholas Friesen 

Nicholas Friesen is a cartoonist from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. His work is predominantly hand drawn and digitally coloured, but he also works with watercolour, gouache, pencil crayon, textiles, and marker. 

His comic work includes the multimedia Olivia Sea project (consisting of music, animation, collector cards, comics, graphic novels, and more), the painted comic …with silver sunshine stares, editing and contributing to multiple anthologies, the Ineccentric mini comic series, and more. Friesen’s comics are published by Lesser Known Comics (US) and Inservice (Canada).

His visuals have appeared in The Globe and Mail, Uptown, The Uniter, Stylus, and on such blogs as Screaming in All Caps, WordPress Discover, and Jaded and Elated. They have also been projected onto the sides of buildings during the Juno Awards and on IMAX screens. He’s also made children’s books with Ace Burpee.

He has created hand drawn animated music videos for Polaris Music Prize nominee Greg Macpherson, The Sorels, Sierra Noble, Sprig, Mise en Scene, Ace Burpee, Olivia Sea, and more. His animated projects include the short series Calls From My Cat (Andrews McMeel Universal) and multiple corporate pieces.
